This cathartic oddball drama about an unconventional therapy group stars the striking Alicia Vikander (A Royal Affair, Anna Karenina) as a woman recovering from a traumatic experience.
Young, affluent and expecting her first child, type-A interior designer Erika (Vikander) thinks she has everything under control. When fate delivers an entirely different outcome, Erika cannot cope. Unable to confront her own pain, she tries group therapy, where she distracts herself by listening to the problems of others. There she meets a myriad of characters who have been thrown together by their circumstances. When their counsellor goes on vacation, the group decides to shake things up by going somewhere no one knows them and trying a new type of therapy through reinvention of themselves – with many amusing outcomes!
Both inspiring and endearing, director Lisa Langseth maintains a warmth and respect for all her characters through a plethora of variations in tone and behavior in which audiences are sure to find some part of themselves.
